According to meteorologists, the hailstones were the largest recorded in Catalonia in two decades. A 20-month-old infant died after being hit on the head by a large hailstone, authorities said. More than 60 people were injured and required treatment in the region’s hospitals. Most of the cases involved bruises or fractures. Several roofs and vehicles were damaged. A severe weather warning was still in effect for parts of the region on Wednesday.
