Video: Heating too expensive? Dance yourselves up!

STORY: It doesn’t matter whether it’s pogo or cha cha cha – anyone who likes to dance knows that the circulation really gets going. Under the motto “Let’s move – dance yourselves up”, dance enthusiasts – and those who want to become one – can look forward to an offer from the Deutsche Oper Berlin in November. Tango, swing and salsa should not only counteract the winter blues, but also to a certain extent the “gas price blues”. O-TON SWING TEACHER FABIAN BRUNNER “It’s getting colder and colder outside at the moment. And that’s a question for many people, how we do it at home now, for me too, I’m thinking about how low I should turn the heating down. What is it “, which is good, what I wear. Dancing definitely helps because it really warms you up. Well, you and you can warm yourself up by dancing, for example by absorbing the swinging, that bounce that you do all the time, or a triple step, bam-ba-bam-ba-bam.” O-TON SWING TEACHER CLAIRE CHEN “And you notice after maybe two songs that you’re already starting to take off your sweater and then it gets warm and you’re more in the element.” Better to dance together than to freeze alone in the cool apartment. Every Saturday afternoon the foyer becomes a dance floor. Under the guidance of professionals from the Berlin dance scene, participants learn the most important steps, which can then be tried out. Each of the dates is dedicated to a dance style. On Saturday, the dance action started with salsa. O-TON INITIATOR AND TEMPORARY ARTIST CHRISTIANE THEOBALD “That’s 90 minutes. Then the audience will hopefully go home or somewhere else in a good mood, swinging and moved and warmed up, or move on. It would be nice if this were a meeting place, that the theaters were really what they should be: a place of communication.” Whether in pairs, alone, with dancing shoes or in socks, beginners or experienced – everyone is Welcome. Admission is free.
