Video: Hanging game for McCarthy – election in the US House of Representatives postponed to Friday

STORY: The US House of Representatives has postponed the election for a new chairman of the Congress Chamber to Friday noon. The previous faction leader Kevin McCarthy did not get a sufficient majority among his party colleagues in the eleventh attempt. The ally of former President Donald Trump faces staunch opposition from ultra-conservative Republicans, who make up less than 10 percent of the caucus. If McCarthy fails to unite Republicans, they will have to look for an alternative. The candidates would be Republican Steve Scalise, number two in the House of Representatives, and Rep. Jim Jordan, both of whom have campaigned for McCarthy. Jordan received 20 votes when he was nominated on Tuesday.
