Netflix series “A Whole Guy” – Media

“At the end of the day, us men must be bursting with pride.” Hear hear. But above all: Doesn’t that sound like the very late 1990s? That’s how it is. In this respect: yawn. But one of the precisely crafted punchlines of the new, late Netflix miniseries “A Whole Guy” based on the novel “A Man in Full” by Tom Wolfe (exactly, from 1998) is that immediately after this sentence, Shania Twain’s monster hit “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” sets in. The first episode, which is about ostentatious and, in individual cases, toxic masculinity like the prehistoric, six-part miniseries as a whole, culminates after a few seconds with the sentence: “Let’s go girls.”
