Faeser satisfied with the distribution of refugees

STORY: Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser expressed her satisfaction on Tuesday with the way the distribution of Ukrainian refugees in Germany is organized. “There are many mothers with children who are now fleeing the war. And that’s why it’s also important that everyone shows solidarity there and takes in the refugees. I think that’s very, very important. That’s why I’ll say it again and I would also like to emphasize that this is now working well from my point of view.” In the morning, Faeser had announced that the refugees would now be distributed to the individual federal states and municipalities using the so-called Königstein key. However, the SPD politician emphasized that many refugees from Ukraine have friends and relatives as contact points and can therefore determine their whereabouts themselves. The interior minister was recently criticized for the lack of organization by the federal government. “Well, I want to emphasize it again, we are not surprised by this, but we are dealing with a war in the middle of Europe. And I would like to see those who can judge today how to predict the war in the coming days and weeks is, it is not.” Faeser described further involvement in relation to right-wing extremists who wanted to take part in combat operations as voluntary fighters in Ukraine. “If we have any indication that you meet the requirements for us not being able to grant you an exit, we react by withdrawing your passport.” The President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, said: “The whole thing is mostly bullshit, there are no attempts to leave the country. It is important for us that we work together with the police, especially with the federal police, to prevent people from leaving the country after all.” So far, however, the number of people who actually left the country could be counted on one hand.
