Container ship ran aground off Wangerooge
A photo of the Mumbai Maersk in front of the North Sea island of Wangerooge. The container ship, which sails under the Danish flag, ran aground around 11 p.m. on Thursday night. According to the CCME, the ship was on its way from Rotterdam to Bremerhaven. Special forces went on board on Thursday morning. A first attempt to tow the ship free had to be aborted because of the running water of the North Sea. Another attempt should be made during Thursday. According to the CCME, no one on board was injured.
A salvage company commissioned by the shipping company is to free the almost 400-meter-long Mumbai Maersk.
