Biden said in a speech Thursday that the three unidentified missiles likely served “good causes.” According to the findings of the secret services, it was probably balloons from companies or research institutions. The US said it shot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina on February 4th. The incident further clouded the already tense relations between the two countries, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken canceled a trip to Beijing. Other unidentified flying objects were shot down over the USA and Canada. The US President has now said he expects to speak to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Biden reiterated he will not apologize for the downing of the Chinese spy balloon. China said the balloon was carrying civilian research equipment, not espionage.
