A 26-year-old woman was the victim of a sexual assault in Bamberg on Tuesday night – she and a helper were able to flee the still unknown perpetrator. Only their physical resistance and the quick intervention of the 39-year-old man would have prevented worse, the police said. The 26-year-old was walking in downtown Bamberg shortly after 3 a.m. when the man spoke to her and accompanied her for a while. At around 3.40 a.m. he attacked her and grabbed her chest and private parts. After the woman and the hurried witnesses resisted, the perpetrator fled on his bicycle. The police are looking for witnesses.
