Drama before a basketball game. A player from the Meyzieu club, near Lyon, died on Saturday evening, just before a Nationale 2 match, in the Jura, reports Progress. The kick-off was about to be given in Lons-le-Saunier, which hosts the ALL Jura Basket club, when the young woman, aged around thirty, felt unwell.
She collapsed on the floor during the players’ presentation. Before the firefighters arrived, volunteers from the two clubs tried in vain to resuscitate her with the help of a defibrillator. The player finally had to be transported to Besançon hospital, in Doubs. His death was announced this Sunday morning.
