Very stinging jellyfish wash up on the Catalan coast

A new species of jellyfish – the chrysaora hysoscella – was reported a few days ago in Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer, on the Vermeille coast in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Scientists at the Banyuls biodiversarium recommend that swimmers “the greatest vigilance because they are very stinging”, reports France Blue Roussillon.

These jellyfish, easily recognizable by “their brown stripes on the umbrella”, wash up on the beaches of the Mediterranean. For the biodiversarium, it is impossible to predict how long this phenomenon will last.
