Veronika Grimm extended – economy

The economist Veronika Grimm is to advise the federal government for another five years as an economist. The Federal Cabinet decided on Wednesday to propose to the Federal President that the 50-year-old be reappointed to the German Council of Economic Experts (SVR). Grimm should be part of the committee until the end of February 2027, the Federal Ministry of Economics announced. Grimm has been a member of the Advisory Council since 2020, her previous mandate ends in February. She also works as a professor of economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and conducts research primarily on energy markets and behavioral economics. “I am pleased that Prof. Grimm will continue to strengthen the Council of Economic Experts with her proven expertise in the field of energy and climate policy,” said Federal Economics and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck (Greens). The Advisory Council for the Assessment of Overall Economic Development – also known colloquially as the “Economic Wise Men” – advises politicians. The other members of the Advisory Council are Monika Schnitzer, Volker Wieland and Achim Truger. The committee actually has five members. However, the SPD had blocked a third term in the grand coalition for the economist Lars Feld, who was a member of the Advisory Council from 2011 to 2021. Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) recently appointed Feld his personal economic adviser.
