Exchanges in small groups to prepare for a large-scale return: Emmanuel Macron gathered on Thursday at the Elysee the leaders of universities and grandes écoles to work on the implementation of a 100% face-to-face return and the sustainability of some student aid.
The Head of State, who himself announced a series of aid on January 21 – psychiatric check, meals for one euro in U restaurants – organized this “working meeting” at the Palais with representatives of the higher education and alongside the Minister of Higher Education, Frédérique Vidal., for a progress report before the start of the school year.
“Vaccination pre-entry” and self-tests
So that all the students can return to the campuses, all have agreed to set up a “pre-entry vaccination”, just before the start of the school year, supposed to allow all the students not yet vaccinated to be vaccinated, for a more sanitary re-entry safe.
The maximum use of self-tests, which could be distributed free of charge, priority vaccination slots or even vaccinations on campuses are among the avenues studied.
Another subject on the table: the sustainability of certain aid decided during the pandemic, which are all extended until December 2021. The one euro meal, announced on January 21 by Emmanuel Macron, has already served 8 million meals. The device of the psy check, which has benefited nearly 4,300 students and 9,700 sessions were carried out, “remains to be consolidated” so that more students benefit from it, according to the Elysee.
