Just before Christmas, a wave of break-ins into luxury stores rocked the United States, like here in Los Angeles. Dozens of people are often involved in robberies. In a very short space of time, masked and targeted, they steal expensive goods. They then flee in cars that are parked in front of the shops. The San Francisco Bay Area is particularly hard hit. According to local police, about 80 people robbed a Nordstrom department store in Walnut Creek on Saturday night alone. The police arrested several people. According to media reports, luxury stores such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry have also been robbed. The California governor has ordered the police to increase their presence near major department stores. Some traders have announced that they will be increasing the security measures.
