According to a media report, former US President Donald Trump has been charged in connection with an alleged hush money payment to a porn actress. This is reported by several US media, including the New York Times and CNN according.
The New York prosecutor is investigating the ex-president for hush money payments to actress Stormy Daniels and model Karen McDougal. Trump sent her $130,000 through his attorney during the 2016 campaign. Michael Cohen passed the money through front companies and was convicted in 2018 of tax evasion, fraud and violations of campaign finance laws.
The investigators are concerned with the question of whether Trump may have also violated the law by making the payment. Hush money is not illegal in the US, but the indictment could make Daniels’ $130,000 and McDougal’s $150,000 campaign donations illegal in New York state.
Trump had even announced his arrest for last Tuesday. That turned out to be wrong. The former US President is running again for the Republican presidential nomination. He repeatedly describes the various allegations in the legal field as a “witch hunt”.
