Ursula von der Leyen puts little effort into explaining the background of her politics. In this respect, one can only speculate as to which considerations determined their agenda on this historic Wednesday for the European Union. Whether coincidentally or planned, the message of the day is clear: the Commission President is tough on Viktor Orbán – but tougher on Vladimir Putin.
