Gate.io Twitter Hacked
There are a lot of cyber thefts these days. Recently, it has been reported that users of the crypto exchange Gate.io are at risk as hackers hacked the Twitter account of the Gate.io exchange.
Twitter is the most accessible platform to crypto users. Thus, hackers often target the service providers’ Twitter accounts.
The hacker changed the Gate.io Twitter account URL from Gate.io to gate.com (https://xn--gte-ipa.com/) which is a fake website
The fake website promotes over 500,000 USDT of USDT coins and allows users to connect to wallets? (e.g. MetaMask wallet) to receive rewards. This is not true. Gate.io is not giving away USDT in any way.
If a user connects his wallet to such a fake website. Hackers will be able to easily access the funds in the wallet and steal them.
Blockchain sleuth Peckshield has confirmed that it found a hacker hacking Twitter accounts and changing the Gate.io URL to trick users into clicking on a fake website.
Cyber crime is on the rise.
