A new tragedy causing the death of a teenager took place this weekend. Saturday evening, a 15-year-old minor died after receiving several stab wounds in Châteauroux (Indre). Two people, a young man and his mother, have since been taken into police custody while an investigation into intentional homicide has been opened. Point.
What happened ?
The brawl, which occurred for a reason which has not yet been communicated, took place on Saturday around 6 p.m. in Châteauroux, on the public highway. When emergency services arrived, they discovered “a 15-year-old teenager” on site who had been “seriously injured with a bladed weapon”. “According to the emergency services, the young man had been hit several times in the chest and back during a brawl,” said Agnès Auboin, public prosecutor in Châteauroux.
An apprentice cook, the teenager who died in the evening is the son of a well-known restaurateur in the city. With no criminal record, he was in the Saint-Denis district with a friend at the time of the events. The mayor of Châteauroux Gil Avérous asked not to “stigmatize” this usually “quiet” neighborhood. Emotions are high and “tributes to Mathis” are multiplying on social networks.
Where is the investigation?
Arrested approximately two hours after the fight, the suspect, also 15 years old, was placed in police custody. The alleged perpetrator “has never been convicted by the courts and his record is clean of any convictions”, according to the public prosecutor.
The mother of the teenage suspect could also be involved in Saturday’s events, according to testimonies. This woman, aged 37 and without any criminal record, was also taken into police custody, and was still there on Sunday evening.
An investigation into intentional homicide was entrusted to the Orléans judicial police and the departmental judicial police service of the Châteauroux police station and an autopsy of the victim was ordered by the public prosecutor’s office.
What do we know about the main suspect?
According to a source close to the matter at 20 minutes, the suspect is involved in two recent cases: two robberies at knifepoint, on February 20 and April 20. He is an Afghan, in a regular situation.
This young man had been indicted “for acts of a criminal nature” and placed under judicial supervision by an investigating judge on April 22, “the only security measure provided for by the code of Criminal Justice for minors given his age, without a previous conviction,” specifies the prosecutor.
According to a witness interviewed, this minor was part of a group of attackers who raged a week earlier in a park in Châteauroux and “who surrounded a 22-year-old man” and attacked him. This witness said he “ran” and “filmed the scene” to put an end to this attack.
