Bus users can look forward to better service in Unterschleißheim. And at a very crucial point. Because the big question at all bus stops has always been: When will the bus finally come? And is he coming at all? In any case, the city decided in the summer of 2020 to participate in the MVV project to install so-called dynamic passenger information units (DFI). These devices have been installed since January. They are available in different designs and in different sizes. In any case, all bus stops should receive displays that tell MVV customers how many minutes the bus can be expected to arrive.
Some of the 73 DPI displays are already installed at bus stops. As the city reports, there are small bus platform displays like those on Carl-von-Linde-Straße, which consist of two display fields for the next bus line. Four medium-sized displays are now being used at the two train stations, which can show the departure times of up to five bus lines at the same time. Three large DPI devices are provided at the entrances to the S-Bahn stations, which then also announce the S-Bahn trains.
However, the first 34 small installed DPI indicators are not yet fully operational, as the city reports. You can still report wrong arrival times in the first three months. This is related to the fact that the displays are still being tested and calibrated. The next shipment of 14 devices is expected in April or May 2023.
The entire project goes back to the district’s local transport plan; many municipalities have chosen to install these DPI indicators. Some also only equip the part of the stops that are most frequented. Unterschleißheim is also planning a major expansion of the bus station under the Le Crès Bridge over the next few years.
