EA 19-year-old was discovered dead in the trunk of a car in Regensburg. The police have now arrested a 55-year-old. He is suspected of having killed the woman, the police said on Sunday. According to police, the arrest took place on Saturday evening. The public prosecutor’s office is currently examining bringing the suspect before a judge, it said. The forensic investigation has been completed and an investigation is being carried out on the basis of a homicide to the detriment of the woman.
Police spokesman Matthias Gröger had previously said that investigations were being carried out in all directions. However, the situation where they were found points to a violent crime, but suicide is more likely to be ruled out.
According to the police, passers-by reported on Saturday morning that a car with a smashed side window was parked in the underground car park of a hardware store. A patrol then discovered the dead woman in the trunk, said Gröger.
The car was registered to the 19-year-old’s parents. It is unclear how long it had been in the underground car park. The young woman was not reported missing.
Criminal experts searched the garage for clues until the evening. An undertaker later picked up the 19-year-old’s body. The investigators interviewed the young woman’s parents and witnesses.
