Unterhaching – More light for the amphibians – District of Munich

Anyone who has recently been out and about in the Unterhachinger green area on the Rodelberg will probably have wondered about the clear-cutting of the small pond in the eastern part of the recreation area. Why did the church cut down the trees here? With the best of intentions, as City Hall spokesman Simon Hötzl assures. In recent years, the water has often been so green that worried residents have repeatedly asked the municipality whether the lake had “tipped over”. The wish was also expressed in the municipal council to cut the lake free and thus grant insight again. “We therefore called in a biologist to discuss the possibilities of improving the lake,” reports Hötzl. The municipality was advised to cut the lake free on one side in order to get more light. This would also improve the water temperature for the amphibians, and there would be fewer leaves. A half-sided fixed fence is to be installed along the path and a wildlife protection fence on the back of the slope. The previous wildlife protection fence was torn down again and again – too dangerous, the community thinks.
