Unterföhring – starting signal for the expansion of the Föhringer Ring – district of Munich

After many years of standstill, preparations for the new construction of the Herzog-Heinrich-Bridge on the Föhriger Ring will start at the beginning of next week. As announced by the Freising State Building Authority, an additional lane for construction site traffic will be set up on the important traffic artery near Unterföhring from Monday, March 6th. However, due to the extra-wide construction of the road, traffic can continue to flow in both directions without major problems. The additional lane runs in the southern area of the Föhringer Ring from the feeder road to the A 9 up to the ramps at the intersection with Münchner Straße in Unterföhring.

According to the road construction authority, traffic may be temporarily disrupted while the partition is being erected. Afterwards, however, the Föhringer Ring should be passable again without restrictions in both directions. The third lane is used for transport for the new construction of the Herzog Heinrich Bridge on the south side, which is being built parallel to the existing, aging structure over the canal and Isar.

According to the building authority, work on the construction of the temporary site roads for the new Herzog Heinrich Bridge will then start in mid-March. The construction site will later be accessed via the third lane on the Föhringer Ring and a temporary lane that runs south of the Sport-Scheck site on the Isar Island between the Isar and the Isar Canal. According to the road construction authority, the bridge pillars on the island and in the eastern area can only be erected from below.
