Unterföhring – S-Bahn driver prevents disaster – district of Munich

A prudent S-Bahn driver prevented worse things from happening on Saturday morning in Unterföhring: At around 8:10 a.m., a 79-year-old was traveling on a railway embankment, was startled when an S-Bahn going out of town passed and slid down the embankment. The S-Bahn driver immediately initiated emergency braking and provided first aid. The 79-year-old from Munich was obviously not injured, but made a confused impression. Police officers found at the scene that the man had already been reported missing and was staying at a nearby retirement home. He was taken to a hospital for treatment; the S-Bahn driver suffered a shock. The route between Johanneskirchen and Ismaning was closed until 9:15 a.m.
