Unterföhring – Cultural Office launches competition – District of Munich

The Unterföhringer Culture Prize has been a coveted trophy among stage performers since it was first awarded in 2010. It is awarded as an audience award. The visitors to the cultural events rate the guest performances they have seen in the community center and its outdoor venues. At the end of the year, the “darling” is finally determined. A trophy and prize money will then be presented at a new appearance. The past winners include renowned ensembles and artists from all disciplines, including the Munich Bach Choir, Simone Solga and the Odyssey Dance Theater.

So far, the winners have received a small black marble figure entitled “Unterföhringer Mohr”. The city council abolished the name a year ago, and the design of the sculpture is now also to be changed. That is why Unterföhring is holding a competition to find a new form as a symbol for the culture award. All visual artists from the Munich district can apply. The proposals are pre-sorted and then presented to the municipal council for voting.

We are looking for a design with a clear reference to Unterföhring. Size, weight and material should be chosen so that long-lasting and easy storage is possible; There should also be space for a lettering or a badge. The three best designs are to be rewarded with prize money of 1000 euros. The winner gets as much again for the implementation. Application documents can be submitted to the Unterföhringen Cultural Office from Monday, August 2nd to Sunday, September 5th.
