Fun inevitable: Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe are getting their own series on Netflix.

Rob Lowe (58) and John Owen Lowe (27) are in front of the camera together for the comedy series “Unstable”. The father-son duo should not only take on the leading roles in the Netflix production, but also produce them together with Victor Fresco (64). This is reported, among other things, by “Deadline.com”.

According to the industry site, “Unstable” is set in a cutting-edge biotech research company. There, an introverted, socially challenged son (John Owen) works for his successful, eccentric father (Rob) to save him from disaster.

The series was inspired by the two actors’ amusing social media posts. John Owen Lowe also announced the planned project in a correspondingly humorous manner. He wrote on Instagram for a screenshot of the news post: “So excited about this. Who knew my childhood trauma would pay off!?”

John Owen Lowe on his father: “He was always there for me”

Similar taunts can be read again and again on the social media channels of Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe. In truth, however, father and son maintain an intimate relationship. “He’s always been there for me” John Owen Lowe told People magazine earlier this year. This was also the case in his late youth, when he was struggling with addiction problems. Paternal support is “one of the reasons, if not the main reason” that he is sober today.

In the meantime, both father and son have been abstinent for several years and are successful in the film business. Rob Lowe’s breakthrough came in 1983 with The Outsiders. He then made a name for himself with films such as “St. Elmo’s Fire” (1985) or “Square Dance” (1987) or the series “The West Wing” (1999-2006). John Owen Lowe has now followed in his famous father’s footsteps and is also active in the industry. Among other things, he co-wrote the screenplay for the series “9-1-1: Lone Star”, in which his father also takes part.
