University hospitals in Munich: Doctors announce another strike for Monday – Information – Munich

Doctors from the city’s two university hospitals and the German Heart Center will stop working next Monday. The Marburger Bund medical association has again announced a nationwide warning strike, this time with a protest march in the city center and a rally at Marienplatz at 1 p.m.

Patients must expect restrictions on the day. For example, non-urgent operations could be postponed. Emergency service agreements would be concluded with the clinics. “Emergencies and urgent treatments will be continued in any case,” says the press office of the LMU Clinic and asks patients who have an appointment on Monday to ask in advance whether it will take place. Traffic disruptions are also to be expected because of the demonstration.

In the negotiations with the collective bargaining community of German states, the Marburger Bund is demanding, among other things, 12.5 percent more salaries and higher supplements for regular work at night, on weekends and on public holidays. There was the first nationwide warning strike at university hospitals at the end of January, and Munich was also affected then. Compared to other hospital operators, university hospitals have the longest weekly working hours, says Andreas Botzlar, chairman of the Marburger Bund Bayern. But they are “at the bottom when it comes to doctor salaries”.
