Laura Meyer lives just a stone’s throw from the Regensburg University campus. But when the 20-year-old student teacher reads out her schedule, it sounds like she might as well be in Rio. Mondays: online. Tuesdays and Wednesdays: first online, then hybrid, at least until recently. Thursday and Friday: “Asynchronous”, in other words: The lecturer uploads the PowerPoint slides and verbal explanations, which can be viewed at any time. You can’t ask questions. Your third semester is now in Corona mode, with small tiles on the screen instead of campus life. “It’s not a daily routine. It’s just annoying,” she says.
