The nationalization of Uniper fuels the dispute between Ministers Lindner and Habeck about the gas levy. But behind it is a power struggle that has its origin in completely different perspectives on the world.

If it weren’t so serious, one could sit back and be amused. After all, what is being offered by Robert Habeck and Christian Lindner is a political popcorn moment: two federal ministers contradict each other on the open stage and try quite openly to brush a toxic problem out of the other’s door. The form is preserved, no derogatory words are spoken. But what resonates when one talks about the responsibilities of the other these days is easy to hear: There is a power struggle going on here that has its origins in completely different perspectives on the world.
