Ukrainian diary: Oxana Matiychuk about her life in the war – culture

“What is the war doing to us?” I was asked this question by a young German man who was taking part in one of our German-Ukrainian exchange projects. I can’t get it out of my head, although it may be too early to look for the answers. This war will change us. All of us who feel somehow involved. That’s not necessarily all of them, I hear an older woman calmly say to the person she’s talking to on the bus, Putin only wants Kyiv, she can sleep peacefully herself. I envy her because I can’t do that anymore in my bed in a safe place.
