Thomas Tuchel says goodbye to FC Bayern. Harry Kane can look forward to top scorer honors. And Max Eberl? He has to continue looking for a new coach. There is room for speculation.

Are there flowers this time? Thomas Tuchel says goodbye FC Bayern. Today’s Bundesliga game (3:30 p.m./Sky) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will be the Munich team’s last game with the 50-year-old on the sidelines.

“It’s obviously difficult. Experiences like those in the Champions League against Lazio, Arsenal or Real Madrid bring us together,” said Tuchel, referring to the football evenings in the premier class.

Eberl continues to look for “the right one”

After the separation at the end of the season, which was decided in February, there were recent discussions about a longer collaboration between Tuchel and the club. However, the German record champions and the coach could not come to an agreement.

For sports director Max Eberl, this means the next setback in the difficult search for a coach. Initially he wanted to complete this in April if possible. Now, in the second half of May, it is still unclear who will coach the dethroned German series champion’s preparatory start in mid-July. Eberl emphasized that they are trying to continue to find “the right person.”

But who should that be? No Xabi Alonso, no Julian Nagelsmann, no Ralf Rangnick, no Oliver Glasner and no Tuchel either. Eberl, who has been in office for less than 100 days, is increasingly running out of candidates. “If you don’t agree, that’s legitimate,” the 50-year-old said recently. Then you just have to keep looking.

Ex-player as a surprising solution?

Despite his commitment to the English first division club Brighton & Hove Albion, Roberto De Zerbi is still considered a possible solution. A comeback by the former seven-title coach Hansi Flick also seems possible again. Or is there a temporary solution in a season with the Champions League final in Munich at the end? Or even a surprising variant with a former player, such as Martin Demichelis, Mark van Bommel or Miroslav Klose? There can be lively speculation.

Also about Tuchel’s future. He is considered a candidate if Manchester United should part ways with coach Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman, in turn, has already been linked to FC Bayern.

In contrast to the coaching question: Kane’s success is certain

One of many Munich stars, striker Harry Kane, will be missing from Hoffenheim. The captain of the English national football team is being treated abroad for back problems. There he will probably hear the news early on Saturday evening that he has become the new top scorer in the Bundesliga with 36 goals.
