The Ukrainian army’s lack of ammunition is becoming increasingly noticeable due to the halting Western aid. Now President Volodymyr Zelenskyj attributes the destruction of a thermal power plant to this.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has complained about an acute shortage of ammunition for artillery systems and anti-aircraft defense. “Today we have one (artillery) shell against ten (Russian ones). Can we hold out like that?” the head of state asked in an interview published by the US broadcaster PBS. It is necessary to at least achieve a balance in artillery in order to continue to resist Russian pressure.

The president warned of the consequences of a lack of US military aid. “I’ll tell you openly, without this help we will have no chance of victory,” Zelensky emphasized, referring to the support package that has been blocked by Republican members of Congress for months.

At the same time, he complained about a lack of anti-aircraft missiles. According to Zelensky, only seven of eleven Russian missiles were intercepted in the recent attack on a thermal power plant a good 30 kilometers south of the capital Kiev. “We have run out of all the missiles that protected the Trypillia power plant,” the president said. According to authorities, the power plant, which is important for supplying electricity to the Kiev area and has an output of around 1,800 megawatts, was completely destroyed in the attack.

Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion with Western help for over two years.
