Ukraine war: Russia does not immediately convert gas payments to rubles – more than four million Ukrainians on the run

After progress in yesterday’s round of talks, Russia resumes the war on Wednesday with fresh attacks. The Russian announcement to curb hostilities around Kyiv was met with much skepticism in Ukraine and the West.

Meanwhile, the federal government is preparing for a significant deterioration in the gas supply: Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck put the early warning stage of the gas emergency plan into effect – the “wise men in business” expect permanently higher energy prices in Germany as a result of the war. “There are currently no supply bottlenecks,” stressed Habeck.
