Update from May 13th, 8:40 p.m.: The Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine is also accompanied by the expulsion of Ukrainian civilians. Around 6,000 people were evacuated from the border area with Russia, the region’s governor said at a press conference. This was reported by the Ukrainian portal Kyiv Independent.

Update from May 13th, 7:50 p.m.: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has fired deputy head of the foreign intelligence service Andrey Alieksieenko, the portal reported Kyiv Independent. Accordingly, Zelensky fired the intelligence officer by decree and replaced him with Oleg Luhovskyi. A reason for the personnel change was not yet announced on Monday evening.

Update from May 13th, 6:30 p.m.: The Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region is causing more civilian casualties. As the Ukrainian Pravda reported that Russian soldiers are said to have shelled a farm near a suburb east of the city. According to the regional government, one civilian was killed and three others were injured.

The news agency reported that Russia had planned attacks on several hardware stores in Kiev and a defense company in Lviv Reuters. The commander of the military unit there is said to have died in the attack, reported Ukrainian Pravda. Fighter plane triggers air alert across Ukraine

Now a Russian court has sentenced another five Ukrainians to several years in prison on espionage charges. Update from May 13th, 12:01 p.m: Kiev admits Russian troops are making gains in their Kharkiv offensive. “The enemy is currently having tactical success,” the Ukrainian General Staff said in its situation report that night.

Despite the high losses, Russia was able to continue to achieve tactical successes, Lichowy explained. The situation at the front is constantly changing and is therefore very complex. Nevertheless, Ukraine has planned measures “to destroy the enemy that has penetrated our defenses,” the spokesman said Ukrainian Pravda.

Army of the Ukraine wants “Russian Disrupt attack plans

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the population on Sunday morning with a situation report. In it he spoke of a total of 12 Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region Mirror reported. The Ukrainian army is currently focused on “disrupting Russian attack plans,” he said.

The president also reiterated the need for Western arms supplies. These are crucial for the defense of the country.
