Ukraine-News: Germany is supplying Ukraine with additional air defense systems

Germany has delivered more military equipment to Ukraine attacked by Russia, including two launchers of the short-range variant of the Iris-T air defense system. Ten GO12 ground surveillance radars and more than four thousand 155-mm NATO caliber smoke grenades were also sent to Ukraine. This emerges from the federal government’s list of military aid, which has just been updated.

The Ukrainian logistics are strengthened with four heavy-duty trucks and associated trailers as well as eight swap body systems. In 2023 alone, military support is expected to amount to around 5.4 billion euros. After the USA, Germany is one of the main military supporters of the Eastern European country.

“Big thanks to our partners for the iris. The sky will be safer now,” wrote the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, on social networks. The new German development Iris-T is not yet in service with the Bundeswehr, but has already proven itself very well in Ukraine’s air defense system.
