Ukraine News: ATACMS missiles could soon be delivered to Kiev, according to US media

A Russian military court sentenced a man to eight years in prison for making critical comments about Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine and posting messages online against President Vladimir Putin. As a spokesman for the military court in the central Russian city of Yekaterinburg confirmed to the AFP news agency, Richard R. must serve eight years in prison in a penal colony with normal prison conditions. R. became the “Spreading false information” about the Russian army and the call on the Internet “terrorist acts” found guilty.

The convict was arrested in April last year after he distributed a video on the Internet condemning the massacre in the town of Bucha on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital Kiev, which was temporarily occupied by Russia. Moscow rejects a bloodbath in the place. According to the non-governmental organization OWD-Info, R. had distributed the video online and added a message in which he cursed the “Russian fascists” who, in his opinion, were responsible for the incidents in Bucha.

R. was later also accused of inciting terrorist acts, because he declared on the online service Instagram that Russian President Putin had to be killedto end hostilities in Ukraine. According to OWD-Info, his wife was also arrested in April 2022 but was released pending trial. She fled with their son first to Armenia, where she was threatened with extradition to Russia, and later to Poland.
