Jens Stoltenberg will not receive an audience award for this statement: for a long time the West will have to support Ukraine with weapons, said the NATO Secretary General the British Guardians, because: “President Vladimir Putin is not planning for peace, he is planning for war.” As realistic as this observation is – every talk show on Russian state television confirms it – Stoltenberg’s prognosis contradicts the expectations of large parts of the Western public. There, the idea that crises last is not nearly as widespread as the desire for game changers, quick turns. Either a happy ending or a complete catastrophe is expected.
