Ukraine apparently retakes village near Bakhmut

The Ukrainian army says it has recaptured the village of Klishchyivka, near the war-damaged city of Bakhmut. If Ukraine’s information is correct, the tactical situation of the Russian occupiers in the area is deteriorating significantly.
The Ukrainian military has reported the recapture of the town of Klishchiyivka in the east of the country, which was long occupied by Russian troops. “I can confirm that this was achieved thanks to the efforts of the 80th Air Assault Brigade, the 5th Assault Brigade and the unified brigade of the National Police “Lyut” (“Anger”),” the newspaper “Ukrainskaya Pravda” quoted the spokesman as saying on Sunday Army Group East, Ilya Jewlash. Several hours earlier, the head of the presidential office in Kiev, Andriy Yermak, had published a photo on Telegram that was said to show Ukrainian soldiers in the town in the Donetsk region. “Ukraine always takes back what is theirs,” wrote Yermak.

The Lyut brigade released a video in which it also announced the capture of the town immediately south of the city of Bakhmut. “But the enemy continues to try to reoccupy them,” said one of the soldiers, who was holding the Ukrainian flag and the flags of the participating army units into the camera. The constant noise of battle can be heard in the background. So far there has been no comment from the Russian side. The warring parties’ reports often cannot initially be verified independently.
With the capture of Klishchiivka by Ukraine, the tactical situation of the Russian occupiers in Bakhmut deteriorated significantly. They now run the risk of being caught in the pincers from the south and the north. Russians and Ukrainians had been fighting over Bakhmut in the Donetsk region for a good six months. On the part of the Russian armed forces, mercenaries from the Wagner private army were mainly used here. At the end of May, Russia declared the city conquered.
