UEFA opts for 26-player lists for Euro 2024

Contacted in recent hours by email, the members of the UEFA executive committee decided, this Friday noon, to expand the lists from 23 to 26 players for the next Euro, this summer (June 14 – July 14) in Germany . As expected, it was in line with the recommendations of the national team competitions commission of the European body, which voted, on April 22, by a very narrow majority, for this solution. All players will be able to appear on the match sheet and on the sidelines.

President of this commission and also a member of the UEFA executive committee, Philippe Diallo, the boss of the FFF, spoke out in favor of remaining at 23, which was rather the wish of Didier Deschamps, his coach. But in the event of a move to 26, Deschamps wanted all the players to be able to be used in each match, without having to leave any in the stands. On this point, France has therefore obtained satisfaction.
