A 24-year-old man, already incarcerated in Béziers prison, was sentenced on Monday to two additional years in prison by the criminal court. On April 3, he had thrown a pan of boiling water filled with crushed glass at a supervisor. The latter had managed to avoid it without being hurt. He had also been discovered carrying a homemade weapon made from a piece of glass, considered a category D weapon.
“As part of the investigation entrusted to the Béziers police station, he explained his action by his desire to leave the establishment because he felt threatened by other detainees”, specifies the public prosecutor, Raphaël Balland. . In addition to his prison sentence, he will have to pay 1,500 euros to the victim. This conviction is in addition to the eight previous ones between 2018 and 2022, in particular for robberies with violence.
