Two sisters sentenced for performing medical injections without a diploma

The trial was held on January 9 but the judgment was reserved. Two sisters residing in Rennes were sentenced on Thursday to eight and twelve months in prison suspended for illegal practice of medicine. They were found guilty of injecting patients with hyaluronic acid when they did not have an official diploma, reports West France.

The alleged facts took place in 2019 and 2020 in offices in Rennes and Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis). It was a doctor from Orleans who had warned the health authorities. The two patricians, aged 25 and 28, presented themselves as aesthetic doctors. They claimed to have trained abroad and with a reality TV star.

Very popular on social networks, hyaluronic acid fills the interstices of the skin and inflates the lips. Its purchase is possible without a prescription in pharmacies. On Wednesday, 200 doctors sounded the alarm about the risks of this product and asked to ban its free sale. According to them, injections performed by unqualified professionals can cause complications, sometimes irreversible.
