Two pseudo-mummies lookalikes of ET presented to deputies and mocked on the internet

“Who inspired who? », asks an Internet user. Two pseudo-mummies of extraterrestrials were presented in the Mexican Parliament by Jaime Maussan, a self-proclaimed and controversial specialist journalist. These two specimens caused a lot of reaction on social networks, especially because of their resemblance to Spielberg’s extraterrestrial character, ET

“They are non-human beings, who are not part of our earthly evolution,” he said during a session organized by a deputy, Sergio Gutiérrez, in the name of “public interest”. The mummies found in Peru are “around 1,000 years old”, he assured, citing carbon 14 analyzes from the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Fake mummies, real bones

The UNAM physics institute confirmed in a press release that it had indeed carried out analyses, but only to determine the age and not the origin of the specimens. His laboratory “distances itself from any further use, interpretation or misrepresentation concerning the results it has published,” the press release specifies.

These mummies “are a creation denounced years ago,” said the HuffPostrecalling the controversies surrounding the controversial documentary Unearthing Nazca in 2017. One of the mummies “was assessed by an anthropologist. Its conclusions are clear: the mummy in question is an assembly of different mummified human remains,” adds the online media.

Mummies mocked

“Receiving Jaime Maussan in the Chamber of Deputies shows this country’s contempt for science,” said a Mexican Internet user. Others derided the hearing, calling for Jaime Maussan to become the “president of intergalactic relations.”

Several Internet users then made the connection between the movie hero and these specimens, seeing a striking resemblance between the two. “Steven Spielberg was right. The skeletal remains of the aliens look like a thinner version of AND I usually don’t like alien stuff (because I’m not sure if I believe it exists or not), but I had to say this,” quips one American user.

“This alien thing is crazy!” They look exactly like an alien from the movie AND ! How did Steven Spielberg know in 1982? », mocks another.
