Two men in custody after discovery of partially naked body

Two men were in police custody on Monday as part of an investigation into murder following the discovery of the body of a man, partially naked, on a road in Espira-de-l’Agly (Pyrénées-Orientales) , we learned from the Perpignan public prosecutor’s office.

The body of this 25-year-old man, “convicted (…) for traffic offenses and acts of aggravated violence”, was discovered on Saturday by a walker and the “lesions observed on the body of the victim” led the gendarmes to favor the criminal trail, according to the press release from the Perpignan prosecutor, Jean-David Cavaillé.

As part of the investigation opened for murder, “an individual, also aged 25, was taken into police custody on Sunday”, while “another man, aged 31”, was this Monday, emphasized the prosecutor.

“The hearings are currently continuing in order to clarify their role and their possible criminal responsibility in the facts,” said the press release, adding that an autopsy must be carried out on Tuesday.
