Two babies die in fire

The small town of Marsac-sur-Don, in the north of the Loire-Atlantique department, is upset. Saturday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a reported fire in a two-story house. When we arrived on site, the house was “entirely engulfed in flames”. Two babies were inside and could not be saved, reports the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis).

They were twins, a boy and a girl, aged 13 months. The father, aged 40, was rescued. He was hospitalized with serious burns. Two other family members, in a state of shock, were also treated.

The fire was extinguished using two water hoses. “Psychological support” was engaged on site, reports the firefighters.
