Two avant-garde jazz bands at a double concert in the Schwer Reiter – Munich

Originally, two futuristic avant-garde jazz highlights competed at two venues in the Creative Quarter. It makes sense to have them at a double concert now Heavy riders merged. The first to meet on Tuesday is the Canadian-American saxophonist Colin Stetson – known not only alongside jazzers like Fred Frith, but also as an accompanist to Tom Waits, as a film composer and as a member of Arcade Fire – in the new project “1017” on the Norwegian experimental guitarist Stian Westerhus and his compatriot Erland Dahlen on drums. Before the award-winning drummer Oli Steidle with his Killing Popes Dan Nicholis, Philipp Gropper, Keisuke Matsuno and Justus Ray gets started. Both bands now also benefit from the BR recording.
