TV Total, Gysi and Sexism: Who is the hottest bee in the Bundestag? – Bavaria

Political Bavaria has truly experienced more brilliant times than those December days clouded by Corona and the new government in Berlin. The Ampel coalitionists have not granted the Free State a single ministerial office. By today’s standards of morality, this is probably a severe form of discrimination, perhaps even humiliation. A TV show with presenter Sebastian Pufpaff also showed that Bayern are currently in a difficult position in Berlin. After it was broadcast, the FDP member of the Bundestag, Nicole Bauer, from the Landshut district, became the focus of a debate about satire and sexism.

It happened like this: In the ancient TV program TV Total presented by ProSieben, which was recently pulled out of the media moth box, Pufpaff asked left-wing politician Gregor Gysi who was actually “the sharpest bee in the new Bundestag”. Gysi replied: “I already know her, she’s one from the FDP.” Pufpaff very excited: “Who is it?” Gysi grinning: “I won’t say. Find it yourself.”

The server of the FDP website is said to have collapsed because of so many inquiries, at least that’s how Pufpaff communicated. He also mentioned that it was “not sexist what we do, that is service”. He aimed at the research of the station, which led to the politicians Nicole Bauer and Ria Schröder. Bauer also got a satirical liver hook. She was a mature rhetorical talent, said Pufpaff and played three speech segments in the Bundestag, in each of which Bauer had twisted his tongue.

“I also wonder how long we will be living in 2021.”

As soon as the program was over, a dispute broke out on the Internet. Nicole Bauer left know via Twitter that she thinks TV Total’s action is sexist and problematic. “I also wonder at what time we will even be living in 2021 that women in public will be reduced so much to their looks,” wrote the 34-year-old politician, who is also the women’s political spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group. The matter of course with which women are judged on their appearance is “terrible and frustrating,” wrote Bauer.

Young Liberals Bayern jumped to the side, complaining that TV Total had reduced the female MPs “in the most inappropriate way to their appearance and then exposed them. An apology from the broadcaster would be more than appropriate”. Franziska Brandmann, Federal Chairwoman of the Young Liberals, even spoke of a humiliation of the politicians that stunned her. However, this complaint did not go down well everywhere on the Internet, many could not understand the excitement.

Of course, the Twitter celebrities also gave their mustard. TV satirist Jan Böhmermann advised the FDP to lodge a complaint with the Broadcasting Council. Nevertheless, the debate has not yet finally resolved the question of the borderline between satire and sexism. It was very good that Pufpaff, the satirist, cooled the excitement at the end of the program: “For me it is very clear,” he said and faded in a photo, “the hottest bee of all: Christian Lindner!”
