In the quiz show “The Masked Singer” a well-known actor took off his bird mask – this time voluntarily. Two weeks ago the mask briefly slipped during the live broadcast.

The plush kiwi bird is from the TV music show “The Masked Singer” was eliminated. Under the mask with the googly eyes and the long beak, the actor Uwe Ochsenknecht appeared on Saturday evening. He received too few audience votes on the ProSieben show and therefore had to take off his disguise. “It was great fun to embody the figure. I think I can do that a little better than singing,” said the 67-year-old.

In the role of the clumsy, flightless bird, the actor had repeatedly made the advisory team smile over the past few weeks – but his voice had also been praised. In the fourth live show he brought the song “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol onto the stage. He also sang “All Summer Long” by Kid Rock in a duet with the black Mustang.

However, the unmasking at the end of the program was no longer a surprise: Ochsenknecht had been seen briefly two weeks earlier when the bird mask accidentally slipped during his appearance. ProSieben then decided not to take the Kiwi out of the race. However, the broadcaster removed the passage from the episode, which was subsequently available on the Joyn streaming platform. The Kiwi then appeared at his subsequent appearances with oversized safety pins attached to the costume.

Ochsenknecht now thanked the viewers for voting him into two more shows after the mishap. “That shows that it’s not just about one thing,” he said.

In the show, celebrities sing in elaborate costumes. Each character also has their own little backstory. The celebrities are unmasked as soon as they don’t get enough votes or win at the very end.

After the Kiwi’s departure, in addition to the Mustang, there is now an ice princess, a portly troll, a shaggy monster named Lulatsch and the Christmas-looking Klaus Claus.

In this program, three new celebrities sat in the guessing team’s seats alongside regular guesser Ruth Moschner. This time the comedian Carolin Kebekus and her brother David were guests as guests. Rick Kavanian also had his first assignment as a permanent new member of the advice team. The actor should also help Moschner decipher the clues in the remaining episodes of the season.

He has plenty of experience with the show: as the clattering robot Rosty, Kavanian sang his way to the finale in the seventh season. In the spring of this year he returned to “The Masked Singer” as a guest guest.

Singer Alvaro Soler said goodbye to the advice team last week, citing “nice private plans” as the reason. However, he left his successor a notebook with some guesses and tips.
