Uli Honeß is known to call the Sunday sports talk show “Doppelpass” when the discussion goes against his grain and the conversation is then, well, fertilized by this intervention. On Tuesday evening, people would have liked to call talk show host Sandra Maischberger and beg her to please deviate from the rigid concept of her show. Because on their guest list were former Federal President Joachim Gauck and another interesting ex: Oskar Lafontaine, who first left the SPD and then the Left in anger. What an interesting debate that could have been: two eloquent “has beens”, as Helmut Schmidt liked to call it, who debated with each other free of all the constraints of daily politics or considerations for their office.
