Höcke vs. Voigt – How to watch the TV duel on television and in the live stream
A few weeks before the European elections and almost half a year before the state elections in Thuringia, the top candidates of the CDU and AfD, Mario Voigt and Björn Höcke, face each other in a TV duel on WELT TV.
DThe Thuringian state politicians Björn Höcke (AfD) and Mario Voigt (CDU) are fighting on Thursday (8:15 p.m. on WELT TV) an argument. The reason why Voigt and Höcke challenged each other to the TV duel was a dispute about the right to exist of the European Union. The live duel will be moderated by WELT TV chief presenter Tatjana Ohm and WELT TV editor-in-chief Jan Philipp Burgard.
Jan Philipp Burgard, editor-in-chief of the news channel WELT, emphasizes: “A public political discussion is an expression of the vitality of our democracy. The strategy of excluding parties from the discourse obviously did not work. The TV duel is an attempt to critically question statements – regardless of whether they correspond to your own values.”
Immediately afterwards, WELT TV will broadcast a special program from 9 p.m. Moderated by WELT TV presenter Alexander Siemon, Robin Alexander (deputy editor-in-chief, DIE WELT), Mariam Lau (editor, Die Zeit), Beatrice Achterberg (editor, Neue Zürcher Zeitung) and Alisha Mendgen (correspondent, editorial network Germany) discuss and analyze the Contents of the argument between Mario Voigt and Björn Höcke.
