A man and a woman are standing because they are said to have attacked and fatally injured a 40-year-old homeless man in an empty swimming pool Woman in front of the Berlin regional court. They are said to have punched the victim several times in the face and kicked him in the head.

The 22-year-old explained at the start of the trial on Thursday that he had hit the man, but “didn’t hurt him that badly.” The 40-year-old’s death is incomprehensible to him. The 38-year-old co-defendant initially remained silent. The public prosecutor’s office charges the two defendants with Polish nationality with bodily harm resulting in death.

On the night of December 20, 2022, the two homeless people are said to have attacked the man. According to the prosecution, they attacked the 40-year-old in a room they used as a place to sleep in the disused swimming pool in Berlin-Friedrichshain in order to injure him. There were several powerful punches and targeted kicks to the head. The man died that night.

The trial continues on November 20th

The 22-year-old explained that the co-defendant, another man and he had initially consumed alcohol. There was an argument between the 38-year-old and the 40-year-old, which the others wanted to settle. “But then he said bad things about my girlfriend,” said the defendant. He hit the 40-year-old twice and kicked him once because of the insults.

The man then sat “normally” on a bench. “He couldn’t have died from my beating,” said the 22-year-old. He then lay down himself.

The 22-year-old has been in custody since April. The 38-year-old, who says she has a permanent residence in Poland, was arrested in June. The trial continues on November 20th.
