Trial opens for man accused of killing his parents and in-laws

The trial of Thierry C. opened this Monday before the Pyrénées-Orientales Assize Court. This 53-year-old man is accused of a quadruple homicide on August 22 and 23, 2020. He is said to have murdered parents and ex-in-laws. He faces life imprisonment if his criminal responsibility is fully recognized by the popular jury.

This man, whose paranoid character was noted by the experts during the investigation, claimed responsibility for this quadruple murder from the start. He would have stabbed his parents in Perpignan, because he considered that they had ruined his life, he explained to the judge.

“We didn’t hear our SOS”

As for his former in-laws, he blamed them for their attitude during his divorce. He allegedly went to their home in Boulou, shot them, before finishing them off with a knife. Twenty-six stab wounds were recorded on the body of his ex-mother-in-law. He then presented himself to the gendarmerie to denounce himself.

“For many years, I had the impression that we did not hear our SOS, our alert cries,” relates, to France 3, Laura Cahuzac, the daughter of the accused. In 2014, he served three months in prison for threats against his partner during his divorce. “We have been suffering since 2011, the day he tried to kill me,” recalls Dominique Bertran. The experts called to the bar will have to rule on his criminal irresponsibility. The verdict is due to be delivered on Friday.
