“It was a huge mistake”: The attack on Oliver Pocher on the sidelines of a boxing match was two years ago. At the start of the trial, the defendant Fat Comedy is now remorseful.

The rapper Fat Comedy has turned himself in two years after being attacked Oliver Pocher apologized to the comedian on the sidelines of a boxing match. “It was a huge mistake,” said the 24-year-old accused of bodily harm at the start of the criminal trial in the Dortmund district court. He actually just wanted to make a “verbal announcement” to Pocher, but then he became angry and lashed out with his right hand. The strong blow was wrong and he regrets the act.

Pocher is a co-plaintiff in the proceedings and described as a witness that the blow came completely out of nowhere. The situation was opaque; he did not know whether further blows would follow, whether Fat Comedy had a knife with him or whether there were possibly other perpetrators in the room. The 46-year-old spoke of a “certain life-threatening situation”.

The defendant is accused of intentional bodily harm. The blow is said to have caused, among other things, hearing impairments in Pocher, who had watched a boxing match as a spectator in the Westfalenhalle in March 2022. A video shows the attacker punching him in the face without warning. Pocher said he was treated for tinnitus with cortisone injections. The public prosecutor’s office demanded a suspended prison sentence of ten months with a fine.

The criminal trial had been postponed several times. In July 2023, the Frankfurt regional court ordered Fat Comedy to pay 50,000 euros in compensation and compensation in a civil lawsuit; the judgment is not yet final.
